Our Story

GMI’s product line traces its history back over 40 years, to the earlies days of digital control for printing. In those early days, GMI achieved a number of “firsts” for ink key control and in-line color measurement. In the 2000’s, GMI became a part of Dover and Danaher, two conglomerate organizations, where GMI was a small part of a portfolio of businesses. In 2021, the current GMI management team took the opportunity to separate GMI from its parents, becoming once again an independent, employee-owned company.

Since that time, GMI has been investing heavily in our service footprint, factory, new product development, inventories, and employees, to expand our ability to reach quickly to customer needs. In 2023, GMI purchased the CC1 product line, showing commitment to our long-term focus on printing automation. Choose GMI as your reliable partner and we will exceed your expectations.

It is an honor to lead GMI. Our team has incredible depth of experience and a passion for the printing industry. I started my career as a mechanical engineer in new product design, moving on to roles as product manager, field service director, and sales manager. Now, I’m leading GMI into a bright future. It is a privilege to serve the wonderful people that are our customers, and it motivates me to build GMI into an enduring pillar of the printing industry.

Tim Rose

President

I have 48 years experience in the printing industry working in most all departments from pre-press to press. I have been working in printing automation for the last 33 years, involved with press installations and service including press alignments, electrical and drive controls, as well as training. I joined GMI in ’98. I started in Field Service and then moved to R&D to act as a liaison between R&D, management, marketing, and the customer. Now we have re-invigorated the GMI Product line and we are proud of the products we produce right here in the USA. I am very happy to be associated with the great team we have assembled.

Jerry Taylor

Director of Operations

I have been involved in Printing for over 50 years. I first got ink in my blood in high school, taking letterpress and offset lithography. Then off to college where I received my Bachelor of Science in Printing Management. After college, I began touring the world as a Field Service Engineer and Service Manager for Dahlgren Manufacturing Co., and later joined GMI. Some of the most enjoyable aspects of being part of our trustworthy, respectful, extended GMI family is continuing long-time relationships with friends, colleagues, and customers around the world. I take pride in helping to solve challenges and issues for our many valued customers.

I have 33 years of experience in the printing industry, ranging from sheetfed to web applications. I appreciate GMI’s focus on customer satisfaction and the integrity in all business aspects. I have a high regard and respect for all my colleagues and thoroughly enjoy being with the GMI family.
